In true form, Ish Ensemble morphs every album into a new experience, redefining themselves with every new venture.  The newest double release, 'Ish beats to Study Time Travel To' finds them in new territory, focusing on afro beat heavy rhythm, and jazz break downs, juxtaposed with effects and vinyl scratches, to create the psych sound of the 70's 80's and 90's beat culture.  Written in the midst of global shut downs, and spiritual awakenings, it lends those themes to simulate a dream like dejavu.  A new sound, you've somehow heard before.  And as with any Ish record, the sound is unmistakeable and cleverly distinct, yet comfortably familiar.
     A love ltter to the jazz and hip hop world, 'Ish Beats' pays homage to their influences from the masterminds of the past, and nods toward a clearer and brighter, Afro centric future.  The new album broadens the bands horizons musically, like never before. 
     It would be said that an album so sonically different from its' predecessors could be a jump; for any other project, that would be true; but for The Ish Ensemble, it's a standard formula of studying the nature of a certain sound, and ascending to yet another higher plane.  Another album for the ages.
